어릴 적부터 음악 신동으로 알려진 제라드 뿔레는 그의 아버지인 바이올리니스트이자 지휘자 가스통 뿔레(Gaston Poulet)로 부터 많은 영향을 받았다. 11세의 나이에 파리 국립고등음악원에 입학하여 2년 동안 만장일치로 1위를 수상하였고 18세에 제노바 파가니니 국제 콩쿠르에서 그랑프리를 수상하면서 수많은 연주회와 함께 그의 이름은 전세계에 급속도로 퍼지게 되었다. 정신적 지주였던 헨릭 쉐링을 비롯한 지노 프란체스카티, 예후디 메뉴인, 나단 밀슈타인 등의 대가를 사사하였고 이후 세계 무대를 석권하였다. 파리 오케스트라, 프랑스 국립 오케스트라, 스트라스부르, 릴, 보르도, 리옹의 국립오케스트라, 이태리 투린의 RAI 오케스트라, 프라하 방송 교향악단, 베이징 심포니, 슈투트가르트 체임버 오케스트라 등 세계 유수의 오케스트라와 함께 국제무대에서 활약 하고 있는 그는 동시에 뛰어난 이 시대의 교육자 중 하나이다.
파리 국립고등음악원, 파리 국립음악원, 파리 에꼴노르말음악원에서 오랜 기간 동안 교수생활을 한 후, 2005년 4월부터 2009년 3월까지 동경예술종합학교의 객원교수를 역임하고 현재 일본 쇼와 음악대학에서 객원교수로 활동하고 있다. 세계 여러 나라에서 마스터클래스를 개최할 뿐 아니라 주요 국제 콩쿠르의 심사위원으로도 활동하고 있다.
Gérard Poulet, son of the violinist and conductor Gaston Poulet, was a child prodigy. He entered the Conservatoire de Paris at eleven and left it one year later with a First Prize. The jury was unanimous. At 18, he was awarded the First Grand Prize of the Paganini Competition in Genoa. While continuing his studies under great teachers such as Zino Francescatti, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein and especially Henryk Szeryng – his “spiritual father” – he gave numerous concerts and his career expanded quickly to the whole world.
Gérard Poulet performs regularly with the greatest orchestras: Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, National Orchestras of Strasbourg, Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon, RAI Orchestra of Torino, Symphonic Orchestra of Radio Prague, Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, Symphonic Orchestra of Peking, Chamber Orchestra Stuttgart… He plays every year at prestigious festivals and concert series: Radio France, Musée d’Orsay, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Prades, la Grange de Meslay, Saint-Florent le Vieil, Divonne, Sceaux, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Besançon, Monte Carlo, Montreux, Carthage…
His international career leads him regularly to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, U.S.A., Canada, the Czech Republic, China, Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Tunisia…
Gérard Poulet is also an eminent pedagogue: besides the masterclasses he gives all over the world, he teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and at the conservatoires of Vienna and Peking.
